Adoption Support

It has been an exciting week in our adoption team. National Adoption Week provides a great opportunity to highlight the needs of the children we work with. Our colleagues within the team work hard to find a loving and stable forever family for those children, who cannot, for any number of reasons, return home to their birth families.

Once an Adoption Order is in place and adopters have full parental responsibility, support from a local authority transfers to Post Adoption Services.

Within Blackpool we are a small but very experienced (and we like to think, very friendly!) team.

What does Blackpool Council offer their adopters?

Our team supports Blackpool adopters and their families and we offer support, advice or signposting to those who are affected by adoption issues.

Post adoption social workers work closely with many other professionals from all areas including health and education to help support the families we work with.

Our adopters gain exclusive access to their very own dedicated adoption support website. Once approved, you will get a unique login and password. On here you can find the latest news, workshops and training opportunities in addition to a calendar of social events such as the very popular twice yearly ‘Fun Days’, an opportunity for adoptive families to meet up in a relaxed environment with both parents and children enjoying them greatly.

In fact our Adoption Support Team offer a number of social events which have included trips to the zoo, face painting sessions, coffee mornings, toddler groups, circus skills and den building activities to name a few. They also host regular consultation groups for both parents and young people to ensure we provide the service wanted and needed by you.

Here at Blackpool Council Adoption Services it is our priority to successfully match children with the right families. We appreciate adoption is a big life changing decision, and our team our on hand to support you pre, during and after the assessment process.
